wiring subs in parallel, how much power?

Im thinking of run 2 12's off a mono amplifier, Just wondering if I am running 2 500w rms 4 ohm subwoofers off one class d amplifier, should the amplifier rating be at least or more than 1000w rms at 2 ohm. cheers.

wiring is not the problem, power is, Just been noticed that when jbl build a twin box run at 2ohm they double the power. Thanks for your reply.

Exact power output will depend on the design of the amp in question.
Can you provide more details, i.e. Make/Model number.
