Try some compound & a mop to bring the paint back. Depending how bad it is.

Sorry the "mop" I mean is a electrical buffer basically. Is there any way you could post a pic of the paintwork so I can see how bad it is?

Or try using some colour restorer or t-cut first. Vauxhall red on older models commonly fades. My partners red corsa on an 06 plate was pinkish because the last owner never polished or waxed the car.

The problem with the 'flame red' paint is that it's not great quality and very prone to fading (as you've found out). To restore the full red colour the car will need to be machine pollished will a mildly abrasive compound. This will essentially remove the oxidised paint leaving a nice bright red finish.

Once this is done you can apply something like 'DiamondBright' (the £200 stuff that you're referring to). However to be honest I think it's a waste of money. It's better (and cheaper) to just apply some polish by hand along with a sealant (wax or acrylic) - AutoGlym do some good products. Each time you apply wax it'll last anything up to 6 months before you need to do it again.
