    Question Windscreen wiper/washer

Hi i have an Astra Vauxhall life auto, year 54

The windscreen wash has stopped working, the wipers move but nothing comes out when the wash is activated,my dad reckons it's blocked, but i've since read that it could be the fuse. There's no noise from the motor when the wipers are activated. Also the back screen wash has never worked. The next problem is that i don't know where the fuse would be so any help would be really great

ive posted a thread at the top of the Mk5 Electrical forum showing all fuses and their operations

mini-blade fuses are whats used - just dont get them from Halfords!!!

Grab em from a local motor factor - sooooooo much cheaper

    its certainly not been uprated

its just a common issue and a lot of Vxl dealers fit 15A instead

so you think the cars come of the production line with 10 amp and the dealer changes the fuse for 15 amp when they do pdi or first service, cos if so then why.

    yes spot on!

they are forever blowing....and a lot of dealers in their "wisdom" think that instead of using the correct screenwash concentrate to try and prevent the fuse from blowing in the first place, its ok to fit a slightly higher rated fuse

some say this is perfectly ok - some dont

Make of it what u wish - I cant speak for the ppl who fit the bigger fuse - all i know is that its common practice. whether good or bad thats not my place to say.

bet the dealers dont write down on the sevice print out that they have changed the fuse for one with a 50% higher breaking point,i know its only a washer motor but they just invalidate the warrentee on that part,on that basis vxl must know that the motor is a problem in cold conditions, doest seem like best practise to me.
