Less Power to Weight? Faster 0-60 time?

    Lets take a 350z. Kerb weight 1.5 tonnes 0-60 of around 5.5 - 6.0 secs.

If you take that stock engine and transmission and put it in a car with a kerb weight(with engine) of about 1.1 tonnes shedding 400kg of weight will this mean a quicker 0-60 time?

I think yes, but I am unsure if the time is also limited by the gearing of the car.

Yes, the engine will have less weight to pull so it will go faster 0-60 in a straight line.

How much faster the car will go around a track depends on the tires, suspension setup etc etc..

Read this thread mate, especially fred's post at the top, it puts things into perspective and makes it easier to understand:

Lol yeah I effed up on that.

I did read freds post but I was unsure if thats purely as a result of a different gearbox and drivetrain or weight.

RWD vs FWD will always throw in things to the equation.

Yeah but the power to weight ratio will be higher.

Ie: more power per kg of vehicle mass
