    subframe.... how hard is it to take out????

    Anyone who has had there subframe off for what ever reason, how hard is it to remove when you dont have a lift or a pit to work with?

    Fairly easy, just had my car jacked up n used a trolley fork like the supermarkets hav to drop it down.
    WANTED: some mods to make my car special until i fall in love with sumthin else

    did you suport the engine and gear box in anyway or are the other mounts good enough to take the weight?

    I know the steering rack is probably attached to the subframe but is there much else from the engine bay???

    The other mounts take it no problem, um thinkin....the power steerin pump comes down i took my shocks off with it think thats it.

    i would be either disconnecting the steering rack or dropping it with it but i would be leaving the bottom arms on the subframe but disconnecting them from the hubs, well thats my plan but probs wont work

    when you drop the subframe the other mounts will take the weight fine as long as you are not splitting the gearbox etc. the subframe should come down complete with steering rack/pump, anti roll bar and drop links (if undone at strut top) and both lower wishbones

    just remember to disconnect the PAS harness at the engine bay fuse box and earth terminal
