    Tailgate solenoid kits

Used to buy them from maplins but the buggers don't sell them anymore. Went down to RS and they've discontinued them as well!

Spotted these kits on ebay - anybody bought one? Any good?

only one i would get is one of s daewoo nexia along with the latch, enough power and pretty easy to fit, if you dont have the latch the boot wont open when it pops as its got a secondary latch on the standard one, however the nexia one is single latch and a direct fit

If I pull the cable manually, the boot opens fine. I thought this was only a problem if you didn't "double unlock" on the fob.

3 door. I take the plastic backing off the back of my tailgate, pull the cable that's connected to the latch and away you go.

I don't see how it can't work.. when you press the metal button on a normal tailgate, all it does is pull the same cable that the motor will be pulling? As long as the car is unlocked (which it will be if you're in it), it shouldn't be a problem?

dont no how to describe it to you bud, but when i done it i had to pop the boot and the boot opened but it went on to the second stage latch. then i had to pop again while pulling the boot so it would open, i have a 5 door so it may well be diff on a 3 door but i dont think it is, if u search the forum its been said alot of times, but if you wana use your latch and try it with the kit then you can see for youself, but while your at the nexia getting the solinoid you mite aswell get the latch also (scrappy or a breaking car on ebay)

Ok mate, cheers! I know what you mean, but for whatever reason mine doesn't do that. Might just buy the kit and hope for the best! Can always sell it again if it goes tits up.
