    Jamex 40mm springs advice

I have found a set of jamex -40mm springs for sale locally, Are these any good? Will these springs and standard shocks on a coupe give a good ride quality? How much should i give for second hand ones or do people think its worth holding out for a set of eibachs or similar? Thanks

Firstly, 40mm springs with std shocks will be ok, look better and will feel a bit more stable in the corners, They go for about £40-£50

I had the eibach pro springs (30mm) on my last astra, and i have to say they were excellent, handled brilliantly and the ride wasnt harsh at all. I then put some FK dampers on with them and they were even better!

My curent astra has bilstein b14 coilovers,(which retail at £900 ish), and in comparison have to say the eibachs are bloddy good for the money.

All depends what u want from the car/how long you plan keeping it etc

If you have newish shocks then yeah, go for it, though you will have a much nicer ride with uprated shocks, as the OEM dampers aren't designed for the stiffer springs, nor the lowered nature of the car. With just Jamex springs, albeit on old shocks, my car was really harsh. Fitted some Jamex shocks and the car was transformed, a much subtler ride, firm yet supple.

I had/have 40mm jamex springs on standard coupe shockers and they are bad. Bloody painful and a bit too crashy for me.

Common conventions are that standard shockers will take 30mm nicely, as in the eibach ones. Past that it is worth getting uprated shockers, like the jamex one Chris mentioned. The jamex spring + shocker set can be bought for ~£160 on ebay new.
