Let the 2010 mods begin - brakes :)

For the pure sake of it really, and so people may know what they need to be looking for with pictures, below are nearly all I need for a full 4-wheel brake upgrade.

All parts bar front discs/pads, handbrake cable and one steering knuckle/hub carrier which is soaking in rust remover. Hub carriers and full set of bolts were a little expensive but darn hard to find on their own, £75 delivered. Got plenty of wire wool and some Hammerite smooth black paint for the calipers

    Front 4-stud 280mm discs, just need discs/pads now. £25 from a member:

4-stud rear disc setup, just needing handbrake cable and a little copper piping, £92 delivered from a member, fully rebuilt calipers and discs/pads 6000 miles ago:

If anyone has done this before locally, and is up for doing mine, offers welcome If nothing else, could do with a pipe bender for the copper, though I think I'm right in saying it isn't needed? Do I need anything else to fit the new copper pipe to the rear?

If you decide to change to lucas rears, you need to change the handbrake cable cos the connections differ, Bosch are great mate, so long as you keep an eye on them, and a little silicone grease. cheers Paula

Wire wool'd and scrubbed the front calipers last night, coat of paint on the top half of one...

Paula, random question, but do you know the correct part number for the handbrake for the Bosch calipers? I think we've sussed it out, but it isn't obvious!

Should look good when its all on I would give the rear disc protectors a good wire brushing and a couple of coats of black hammerite to keep them looking fresh.

you shouldnt need a pipe bender for the copper pipes, its easy enough to shape by hand especially if its only short lengths. you'll need a flaring tool
