    What to buy?!?!?! Astra Vs.....

    Okay guys...I'm having a dilemma!

I currently have a mk4 SRI but I'm upgrading to a diesel soon. So....

I know this could be a bit biased with it being on an astra forum but here goes!

    I'm thinking of either a 1.9 CDTI Sri 150 Astra mk5. Or a 2.0 TDI Audi A3.

Both are around the same mileage and price...and both have the half leather seats, upgraded exterior pack etc.

    Thoughts?

it may be an Astra forum but we do have lives outside of here (some members excluded)

Drive both models then see which ones ticks the relevant boxes

    SIMPLE!

I suppose! I know the A3 has 55mpg averagely and the Astra has 50....hmm!

I think I'll have to drive both. Audi's are apparently built superbly though...is that true?

In my opinion these cars are in completely different leagues in terms of comfort and quality. Sound systems as standard are superb

It'd have to be the A3 in my opinion

    JUST NO!!!

grandparents (im only young ) have a 09 or 59 cant remember but it was the brand spanking audi a3 5dr 2.0 tdi

they had from new and with less then 2k miles on the clock herrendous dash rattle (couldnt drown out with radio! ), so bad they took to dealer, they didnt know so took the dash apart still no joy, in the end they had to drive round with half the dash taken out and no airbag on passenger side just to work out what it was... took 3 weeks i think. think once they found it it was repd under warranty tho

sorry to go on here but why listen to horror stories and ppls opinions when only YOU know what car suits your requirements

Drive both cars and then make a decision - end of!

Who cares what you choose - as long as ur happy surely thats all that matters?

I know I couldnt give a toss what ppl on here recommended - I know what I want and thats all that counts when its you who'll be driving the damn thing!

i wasnt saying no to getting the car, saying no to the build quality BUT it can happen in any car!
i love the a3 they have, the interior is really smart and i love the bright dials and gear indicator/change but as said its all about personal choice!

personally i think i would choose the new a3 over the new astra HOWS THAT FOR A STATEMENT ON THIS FORUM

Maybe cos he asked for peoples opinions hence the reply about the build quality

Anyway the audi will prob hold its value better but will cost more to service and repair

I have just bought an 08 plate sri 150 and i find the build quality vary good but then again its only just over a year old so give it time
