    Got a problem :(

I've just had a gearbox change in my SRI and the TC light is always on now...don't think the driving has changed at all...just my dash is starting to look like blackpools main strip! Anyone know what it is?

Just chucked in an induction kit and my engine management light has came on...anyone know what the problem could be?

And also..my full beams come on quite a bit without me touching anything? Could it be the 'block' or something? A mate suggested it could be.

Steering is pulling to one side and the wheel shakes quite a bit above 70mph...anyone help me out?

Just a few niggling problems doing my head in! Cheers.

    Marty.

the EML and traction light could be the AFM being troubled by the induction kit, seen this a few times. assuming everything went back correctly after the gearbox change, the tracking being adjusted should sort out the wheel woblle and pulling issues

full beam issue is a simple fix

    just needs a new stalk

if the TC light came on WITH the EML (ie if u fitted the induction kit before u noticed the TC light on) then its probs the AFM has blown! or at least the ind kit is making it more sensitive

do the paperclip test first and see what code u got

if its P0100 or P0170 then its the AFM (or at least the ind kit)

common sense tells u to forget the ind kit for now and go back to standard until all ur running issues are sorted (if not leave it off for good)

The fact u mention the car pulling - suggests the tracking is indeed out - when tracking is out on cars with TC it can quite often cause a conflict and as a result either make the TC cut in under normal driving - or in this case may switch it off permanently until resolved

You really need to ditch the ind kit for now though and take it one step at a time as mentioned above - fixing one issue at a time

Cheers guys. I appreciate this. I'll take it off and let you know.

The TC light was on before the induction kit. The EML came on after.

Whats the paper clip test? (I ain't very clever when it comes to this!)

paperclip test is the DIY method of reading the ECU for fault codes on early Vauxhalls upto 2000

just a simple case of bridging pins 5 & 6 on the OBD port - anyway heres a guide although taken from another thread so u may have to ignore some references but the process itself is the same
