    FAO wheel guru's - 7.5" wide et 37 - ???

Hi, looking at a set of second hand alloys for my mk4 astra van i got last week.

    They are 17" x 7.5" wide, et37 with 205/40/17 tyres.

Now my last mk4 hatch had 17"s with et38, but i think they were 7" wide...

Will these wheels fit? Dont want them scrubbing etc, cant be bothered with that.

    Thanks for replies, Gary

37 shouldnt be too much of a concern especially if u choose to use 205 rubber

215 would be better as not only is it the correct/OE size for the Astra G - the addition of the 7.5J rim will mean the rubber will be more "stretched"

depends of course what ur after

The main problem where ET will come into play is the ride height.. on a standard height or even 30/40mm drop you should be fine but any more and it will rub

as 37 isnt too low an offset you could get round this by simply removing/trimming the arch liners and rolling the arches - ie just fold the 5mm or so of metal arch back inside so sits against the inside of the arch

If ur not prepared to do that, then try and get an ET of at least 40mm then you wont hve to alter anything and could quite happily slam it on its arse

bandit mine are et41 and i rub so imo i think that 215 will rip the arches to bits depending how low they are.

im on 205/40/17s and i need to go down to 195/4017 as im that low it catches on corners. if you not lowerd then dont worry about it they will fit perfectly

if your now lowed or down around 30mm you wont need you arches rolled

yeah but yours rub cos of your ride height!!

As ive already mentioned, ET37 on a 30/40mm drop will be fine on 205 section rubber but id still trim the plastics or be prepared to

Anyway, lets see if we get a reply before discussing it further

Well the wheels are sold, too slow dammit!!

    But i have spotted a set of team dynamics pro race 2, 17" x 7", et38 with 205/40 tyres

Shurely with 205's being stretched, it means the tyres away from the arch lip that bit more?
Also with these nly being 7" i think they will fit fine, any opinions?
