The press and my accountant. If the conseratives get into power this will be one of the first things they do. Labour want to do it but wont because they are scared of losing more votes.

VAT has to go up to get out of this recession.

how can that work, if the VAT goes up then peoples disposible income will go down and so they wont purchase "luxury" items and so the recession will nosedive again.

The only way to get out of it is to sell assets. If you were declaring bankcrupt you would have to do this, so why cant the government.
First of all, MP's having 2 houses fully paid for buy US? then claiming mortgage payments and private gardeners (when they dont have a lawn just stones). Its an outrage especially with the bankers getting massive bonuses for what? - putting us in this recession in the first place?!

oh and whens the Stamp duty going back to 125k - is that tomorrow?

    *rant over*

i thought food i.e fresh food was vat exempt?

Ive been getting a bit of overtime recently because of the VAT rate and the scrapage allowance so suppose i can kiss that goodbye for another year.

Still think the MP's should have their wages cut, why do they get to have £100k+ salarys for sitting at meetings arguing with everyone else about trivual things such as "can i claim expenses for lapdances"
