    A Timely Reminder...

oh yes, a lovely reminder that vauxhall ownership doesnt come without its faults.
however not the car this time
my lock button on the key fob (mk4) has breaked so i can only unlock remotely. old mans viv fob did the same recently and we butchered it up and got it working again but i dont want mine looking butchered

any one had problem before? anyone with fix?

was thinking about converting to a h key fob so i can have flippy key, but the button layout is side by side not above and below

Take it apart and have a look, probably a worn out button or might just need resoldered, should be an easy repair if your handy with a soldering iron, I have replaced a few worn out buttons on car remotes and its easy enough to do.

why not just buy a replacement remote casing?

I used to have the old style remote (ie early Mk4) one with oval buttons - bought a new remote casing off ebay with rectangular buttons and just swapped over the circuit board

    done!

So many to choose from...just type in "astra remote"

Oh and I assume you mean "broken" ?

    opened it up
    had a look
rubber has actually worn away with a tiny bit rattling round
pulled out the rattling bit was like i tiny dot so not worth saving
left for now, works ok but have to press hard!

had the obligatory play with just the chip as it was like a bond gadget so had to do a few bond plips

will be gluing in sommet, probably some fuel line from my rc car as that seems ideal
result... FREE just have to choose what colour line to use

    cheers bubba
