Question Problem with Nokia 5800 volume

Not me. I'm asking on behalf of the brother who's got this issue.

He bought the phone off eBay so that rules out any warranty answers.

His phone is no longer playing music properly. On its loudest setting it's very very very quiet. When he plugs earphones in, it doesn't go through them & still plays through the phone. Just started happening today & he's had it about 4 months.

    Ideas? Solutions?

you could try a firmware update, or a reset to factory default. sounds very much like a software issue. I have a 5800 and have a few issues but most seem to get sorted with an update.

Not actually owning it myself & being a bit of a Sony Ericsson buff ........ how do you update the software on this Nokia?

I'm assuming USB cable & some downloaded software from the site?

had similar problem and it was the software...

download nokia pc suite from nokia website and connect phone via usb cable. I would suggest doing a backup first.

even if phone was bought off ebay you can still take phone to nearest nokia repair centre and they can check the warranty left of the phone. All 5800's came with 24 months warranty. They just check the imei number and you dont need the receipt. Carphonewarehouse are nokia authorised, worth a try.
