    2002 Astra 2.0 cdti. No Power...help

    Hiya.

Sorry im a complete newbie on here, and i am no good with cars (not a good start i know)
Basically the problem i am having is this:

My car has just come out of in independant garage having had the gear linkage replaced/repaired (not sure which as my dad was dealing with it)
I have just collected my car today (from my dads, not the garage) and i have driven it home and there was no power. The turbo normally kicks in between 2250 and 2500 rpm, but there is nothing. It still revs through the full rev range, but just takes forever to get there.

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris.....

Okies, i assume you mean you have a 2.0DTi, as the CDti are either 1.7 or 1.9 Generally and after 2004!!

I would check to make sure the vacum pipes are first connected into the turbo, (Two small black pipes) and if they are check they are the correct way around.

Having the battery disconnected shouldnt make any difference, mine was disconnected for several weeks lol!

Yes i do mean 2.0 Dti. Sorry.
I have noticed a light on the dash...thought it was the service indicator.
But apparently it is telling me that the engine has been put into "Limp Home Mode" and i apparently need to take it to dealer to get it looked at.

Apparently the light signifies a problem with the engine or gear box electrics, and owing to the fact that i've just had a bit of work done around the gearbox area (the linkage), there is probably the cause.

    Booooooo

But they are no doubt going to charge me a fortune for the privilage of hooking it upto a computer at the local dealership.

    God i hate cars.....lol

    Which Light is it?

One with a spanner through it?

Could be any number of things mine came on regularly when my EGR valve went. When the cable came out (regularly just ask Afro Gav :P) the engine light would come on.
Could just be a simple thing like unplugged cable.

    Vx Charge £30 i think.

    It was the spanner light.
But thankfullky the problem is now solved.

Was a tiny pipe that had become disconnected.
Reconnected that, and my mate did a diadnostic check on it, found no problems, so cleared the warning light.

    So all is good.

Thankyou all very much for the assistance
