    Help needed- Front wiper trouble

    Hi guys,
Im having some trouble with my front wipers since the first snow.
When you put them on intermittant or just flick the switch to wipe once, it only goes about half way of its wipe then stops. When on full they work fine, but its like they don't know how far to go or where to stop properly.

I'm thinking it must be a relay of something, but if anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Is it likely to be the motor though? The wipers do work when used on constant

more than likely just snow build up in the linkage or arm mechanism

clear the snow then see if its still the same

if so then new motor time

Mine was doing this the other day in heavy snow but once blockage cleared its back to normal

It's probably burnt out contacts inside the motor mechanism, very common at this time of year.
Happens when you try to wipe a frozen screen.
Get a second hand or pattern parts one from you local breakers yard/motor factors, much cheaper than Vauxhall.

Mine was playing up like this for a few months, so i went to a breakers to get a new wiper motor replaced it but they dont go all the way down to the bottom now,
I keep moving them on the splines but no luck, got to a point wear they stop to far up and if i move them down they knock the weather strip off.

Same happened to me last year mate, I braked and a load of snow from the roof fell onto the windscreen, had the wipers on and they couldnt move it this happened.....

Luckily, from reading on here I knew straight away what it was, and that a new motor was required, so went to the scrap yard and got one for 60quid, It's apparently an easy job to fit it, but I didnt trust myself so took it to the garage and they did it in 5mins while i waited. Charged me about £15.

Only problem is now this motor is quite noisy compared to my original, but this is solved by the radio

My wipers worked on constant as well, just they wouldnt "park" properly when turning off intermittent, but if you just touch the stalk to get the wash feature on, they will do the cycle and then return to the down position, so use this in the mean time if you're stuck before getting a new motor.
