    Oil Pressure Warning Light

    Hi There

I have a 2008 Astra Sport Hatch 1.9 CDti 150BHP with just over 4k miles on the clock and I have just recently noticed that on a cold start the oil warning light is taking between 3 - 5 seconds before it goes out. This has only started to happen recently, is it related to the colder weather ? My oil level is OK. It has been back to Vauxhall and they have allegedly checked the oil pressure, downloaded a software upgrade, and topped up the engine oil level, however this has made no difference.
    Should I be concerned ?
Has anybody else experienced the same problem ?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated !

    Cheers

    (I'm sorry for my english)
I have this problem too. While the car stands idle, oil flows down from the filter. At start time for filter filling is necessary. I do not know why oil flows down. The pump and its valve is perfectly in order. Oil follows in an engine direction. (Y17DT)

Are you using the correct oil or the pressure switch could be on it's way out?

Simka, this is normal for the Y17DT engine as it has no non return valve for the oil as for the newer engine there may be a faulty non return valve, incorrect oil, faulty switch or oil pump.

    Thanks for answers !
Techno, I have changed the pressure switch, but the problem remained. I use oil 5W40 but when I used 10W40 there was a same problem.
jiberson: "this is normal for the Y17DT engine as it has no non return valve for the oil". Is it the exact information?
