    drive belt question

hey guys just bought a new drive belt as my current one has developed cracks in it, am going to hopefully change it tomorrow if its not too cold and was wandering if i need to watch out for anything, the tensioners rattling a bit and can easily sorce another one but wandering also how easy this is to change?

15mm spanner on tensioner bolt - swing it out the way to allow the belt to be slipped off

remove the tensioner whilst ur at it - should be hold on with 1 maybe 2 torx bolts or similar

give it a good clean and then lube it up with some grease or similar - refit then slip belt back on remembering to lever the tensioner back to allow it to slip back on

might be easier to remove the airbox for improved access

borrowed a haynes manual from a friend so will be removing the arch too or isnt there much point?

if i grease it up will it stop the rattling? thought it may be on its way out, also will wd40 do instead? may not have any grease

all done, thought id be able to use a socket on the tentioner bolt but ended up using a spanner, also didnt feel confident taking the tensioner off so just covered everything up and gave it a layer of wd40, the rattle has gone now so much happier now, power steering feels much lighter as well but not really been able to test it properly yet.

i have managed to get a few pics that could help some of you guys out that are looking to change theirs so i will get them up soonish, what benefits are there of changing the drive belt? am hoping i notice a difference to the alternater as my lights etc dim when i turn stuff on as its currently doing my head in lol!

cheers again for your help geordiebandit
