    how many miles has the car done? and what year /model is it,looks like a little water and oil mixing.

    Is that an 8v engine? Looks like it. Are you asking what that mayo looking substance is? Don't worry too much about that, its an oil and water emulsion, quite common on these engines I'm told. A good long run should help burn some off the water off

    Yep its a 8v engine... Yea was just checking the oil earlier and noticed a yellow substance...

    What makes it appear?

    Im going for a drive later on so will that get rid of it??

    I think it's when water somehow manages to get in the oil and they, given the right conditions, mix together forming that 'mayo'. Take it for a good long spin then when you get back loosen the oil filler cap and you will see all the steam escaping. I wouldn't worry too much, my car is exactly the same, and that's pushing 200k miles running with all that crap inside. Relax!

    I heard it was common on the smaller engines..

    also if you do alot of short journeys then itll deffo happen! Go for a long motorway cruise and see if it goes

    Aye well im going out in abit so will give it a blast and see what its like when i get back...

    Just didnt look good when i first saw it and thought it would do some damage...

    Hopefully a good drive helps. Oil and water can mix when the head gasket goes.

    Might be worth doing an oil and filter change anyway, only costs about £15 to do and 10 minutes of your time. When was the last change done and how many miles are on the car?
