new tyres or new alloy wheel package??

    Hi all,
I need to replace the 2 rear pilot premacy tyres as the side walls are crazing up.

Also the proxys on the front are not long before they need to get changed.
    Question is this...
£500 for a new set of tyres all round for half decent ones or change the standard 17" snowflakes (that are pretty scuffed up as well!!) for some sweeeeeeeet 18" or poss 19" rims with tyres.

    My decision depends on:
Replacement costs of new tyres in the future.
    Ride comfort
I dont really fancy lowering the car as her indoors drives it more than me (read WASTE OF MONEY)

By the way, the car is a Opel Zaffy A OPC in Arden Blue

I really like the look of the corsa vxr wheels but dont particularly like the Corsa VXR "style" ones available.

The wife likes big fat 5 spoke alloys like this.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

but i am a big fan of the stealthy look like this sort of thing... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19-CRUIZE-258-...item518ea05d53

    your verdicts please!!!!

your wife has good taste imo but if you stick 19" without a 30mm drop wont it look a little 4x4.

    prefer your wifes choice.

Depends on your budget really, you say 500 quid would get you more than decent tyres, then your gonna spend 600 on rims, but you will only get cheap budget tyres so in a years time you be looking at new tyres again, so in the long run your'll be out of pocket. All depends what you want ateod but the rims your wife picked would look awesome.

my budget isnt 500. If the wheels look right then i dont mind spending out on them. 500 to 600 will cover the good tyres but the current 17" rims are looking shabby.
budget for the wheels and tyres is around 700
