I changed my Thermostat at the weekend and as I had to take off my engine cover for this, and therefore the oil filler cap, I noticed that there was a tiny amount of white 'mist' in the oil that was sitting on the underside of the cap which worried me. It wasnt 'mayonnaise' or anything, just a tiny amount of whiteness.
I'm 99% sure my headgasket isnt going, as the engines only got 57K, never been abused, no coolant loss, no white smoke on start up, and used virtually no oil.
The car isnt used much, and with the cold weather, could this have been a bit of 'condensation' or something? COuld it have anything to do with the coolant just having been changed when doing the 'stat?
