    1.3cdti VS 1.7cdti

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of both?? i.e. MPG, performance etc??

On paper the 100ps 1.7cdti is only a couple of MPG less on average compared to the 1.3cdti, but how true to life is this?? As i have herd people say the 1.7 can be quite heavy on diesel and the 1.3 runs on fresh air. has anyone owned both??

the 1.3 is good on fuel as long as you are never in a rush as to get it to keep up with traffic you need to work it hard, our engineers at work run 1.3cdti estates and they all say they have no pulling power,i drove 1 for 2 weeks and got 600 moles out of a tank but it has a big gap in power when changing from 2nd to 3rd if on an incline.

    stolen from parkers

There's an equally strong diesel choice too with no fewer than three engine sizes and five power outputs - all of which deliver good economy. The 1.3 CDTi (from mid 2005) has 90bhp and although it can feel stressed at times, it returns a good 58mpg. The 1.7 CDTi isn't a particularly refined engine, it's available with 80bhp or 100bhp but the 1.9 CDTi is smoother and more powerful - plus with 120bhp and 150bhp its as fast as the petrol models. Our choice would be the 150bhp version of the 1.9CDTi which offers strong performance but will return 50mpg (identical to the 120bhp version). In late 2008 an ecoFLEX model with a 1.7 CDTi engine was introduced. This has 110bhp - 10bhp more than the standard 1.7-litre diesel, and yet thanks to engine management tweaks, emits 119g/km of CO2 and averages 63mpg.

I think the later 1.3 cdti's also are low emission so cheap to tax
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...
