Need a little How 2.0 on wheel hub

    Hi

I've got a little problem on my Coupe. I believe the fault is on the front left ABS-sensor that's causing all the havoc I'm experiencing.

The car worked fine for half a year (except the ABS/TC light was lit in between) till it got serviced by Opel in June. When I picked the car up it worked fine for the first 10 minutes. Then I needed to shift down, I pressed the clutch in and the rpm gauge fell all the way - stopped on "0" and all the lights in the dash lit up.

I got the OP-COM and scanned the ECU and got this:
    OP-COM 080805 - PC based diagnostic tool

    Astra G

    OP-COM - KW2000 Communication Window> 2001|Astra-G|Engine|Z 18 XE

    -Shortened-

Total number of fault codes: 1

C0035 - Front Left Wheel Sensor Open Circuit
    (04) - Present

    -Shortened-

Total number of fault codes: 2

P0100 - Mass Or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input (<-- This is sorted now with a new MAF)
    (02) - Not present (<-- This is sorted now with a new MAF)

P0500 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
    (08 ) - Not present
I've got some experience of working under the bonnet, but I really don't have any experience working on the wheels/brakes.
I had the car on some axle stands and tried to figure out the ABS-sensor. I managed to get off the caliper but really nothing else. I had a chat with the lads at Opel. They said the ABS-sensor sometimes got cracks/split and stopped working which lead to the engine dying. The ABS-sensor wasn't sold as a part for it's self, it's built into the wheel hub.

I found a guide on changing the brake discs here somewhere (it's saved it on my laptop) so removing them shouldn't be a problem, but how can i remove the wheel hub?

undo the driveshaft hub nut then undo the top anti roll bar droplink bolt on the strut and undo the lower wishbone swivel joint bolt, prise open the clamp joint slightly and lever down on the wishbone to free it. then remove caliper and brake disc and unclip brake flexi pipe and pull the strut outwards to release the driveshaft from the hub. undo 3 bolts that hold the hub unit in and unclip sensor wiring and remove hub unit, clean out all mating surfaces and reverse the procedure to refit new hub and torque up all bolts as per spec
