    1.4-1.8 engine swap advice mk4

    What do i need to keep and what can i keep (money wise) and what needs to be replaced from the donor car?

    it is not economically viable ;you will need loots and lots of money probably more than your car's worth
    -best to sell the 1.4 and buy the 1.8

    Thinking of insurance really mate and theres a 1.8 rear end write off in the scrappy...just sort of had ideas as mines sitting on 110k atm

    to insure an engine converted 1.4 is going to cost more then insuring the 1.8 standard imo

    so its not recomended then lol

    i wouldnt recommend anything you couldnt afford, and if you cant afford to insure it, then no its not!

    But the original question, no its not very beneficial going to a 1.8 really

    ha you can get away with some stuff on insurance, but not an engine change..

    I did on a 1.8 clio once though, as it had a 2.0 megane engine in there when i got it dosnt look any different really but if you look really close you could see the differance...
    And the guy that hit me had an unpronouncable name stunk of alcohol and tried to blame me!!!(despite the fact i was off the road, parked and in my house asleep!!!) will never forget that night i tell you was amazing he was insured atall really
