    Look at this tint

    came accross this on one of my random travels on the internet

    Anyone seen this in the uk?

    I don't think this is an actual tint, Asim. It'll be Liquid Crystal sandwiched between the glass. It turns opaque when there's no current through it.. and if you stick current through it, it goes clear.

    It's an old technology too but expensive to produce the glass. The upside is the current required to flick it 'on' is so small you don't need to worry about draining the battery hugely.

    It's been used in homes and office blocks for quite a while and I'd always thought of its uses in a car.. this is the first time I've seen it done though so very cool find mate

    sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk but you can't drive around with them on...its only used when the car is locked so no one can look into it

    Actually, they wont have used glass. They'll have used a perspex film instead with the LC in between.. so it's flexible.

    Hm, got me thinking now.

    Sort of.. picking up something where I left off a few years ago.

    I made a prototype once using single pane glass 8x8" and it worked 'okay' but never thought to try it with clear perspex.. that is thinner and can be shaped.
