    Slight problem cutting out...

Right second time this has happened now...

stopped at a junction, go to pull away and the engine dies and cue the eml and emissions light flashing a good'un...

I open the bonnet up, disconnect the two main plugs to the engine block, the ones with the flip release thing... connect them back up and it starts again first time...

any idea what the problem could be?

car is a coupe with a Z18XE in it...

EGR or Coil Pack maybe, seems a common problem with the engine cutting out, if you can have it plugged in to a computer it should tell you more

whenever i get these P1614 codes (usually what it is) I change the fuel pump relays as they are on the same circuit iirc

could be an immobiliser issue but fuel system gets my vote - one Z18XE was cured by this and im actually workin on a ZLET with same codes at the mo

As its the Z18XE then u can never rule out the ECU due to its location and the dreaded excessive heat killing it albeit slowly bit by bit!

next time grab the exact code if u can

have u a spare key you can try? or at least the chip part of the key

yeah have tried both keys, not sure which of the two cause it, as both on same keyring at the moment...

i found the codes last time and they were...

p1613 - Immobiliser No. / Signal wrong... (hence why it sometimes doesnt start?)
P0179 - Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit High Input
P1612 - Immobiliser No Or Wrong Signal Immobiliser

    no 1614...
