I have recently come back from Gran Caneria, while there we booked in the UK a car for the week. Using GOLDCAR when we arrived like all of them they took a credit card as proof of ID and to have something to charge if I stole the car.
When he gave the card back he had already charged it even though i wanted to pay by cash. Also there was an extra £37 of insurance which we had not asked for. Given the spanish copy so i couldnt read it he would not give a refund as he could not do it and we would have to take it up with his supervisor at the end of the rental.
At the end of the rental i saw his supervisor but she said there was nothing she could do and i would have to contact head office.
I contacted head office by e-mail and told there was nothing they could do as the rental was now over and we had enjoyed the safetly of extra insurance.
To top it all off, we have just had a call from the credit card company to say they had noticed some strange transactions going through which weren't us. as the card had not been used for several months it seems Goldcar may have cloned the card.
So no refund, and a cancelled card, frozen account and details passed on to the police.
I am now urging everyone not to use this company due to the apalling service i have received
