    Roof ECU

I own an 04 1.8 Astra Bertone convertible. I purchased it in February of this year. When I took it on test drive I noticed that the roof moved an inch then beeped, I gave it a nudge and it went down. I told the garage and they said they would fix it. They told me they had but they hadn't so I complained. They then took another look and decided it needed a new roof ECU because that was the problem. When I asked when this would be done they said just waiting for the part. I ring them on a monthly basis asking them, thankfully this part is still covered by their warranty. They said that there were no parts left in Britain and none left in Gemany either, they were having to be remade. I am still waiting for the part, they told me it would be in in November, its not been fixed, its almost been a year. Surely it doesn't take this long to track down a part for a not too rare car?
Is any one else having this problem or have I just got useless people looking after my car?

Mate, get the part number and have a hunt for yourself, I'm sure it's not as scarce as they're making out! I'm just pretty surprised that you've waited over a year for them to sort it, unacceptable really. Hope you get it sorted.

Well I left it with them because it is covered by them so I didn't want to have to pay out of my own pocket for it. When they first told me that there were none left any where I didn't believe them so phoned a different Vauxhall garage and they said the same thing. Turns out I am at the end of a list of 85 people waiting for it.
Phoned the garage again today and they are finally picking my car up on Tuesday. They only just, after 10 months of supposedly trying to get the part, found out that there is a specialist Vauxhall garage in Grassmere that deals soley with roofs and roofing systems so it is going there on Tuesday to either fix the part or get a new one.
Will just have to wait and see what next week brings.

I'm afraid the garage were right in what they said, these are more rare than rocking horse poo.

Well it is in the garage now so I am hoping it comes back fixed and fully functioning, when they took it away they said they would try and fix the old part or replace it if it was not fixable but thanks topless, at least I know that they are a rare part. In the mean time I am having to drive around in a horrible ford fiesta.
