Smile Date and temp with after market head unit

As subject when you fit an after market head unit you loose the temp and date, as you normally get track / radio info from the CDR500. I know you can get infomation to be displayed using the correct cable, but this info is displayed on my head unit anyway. So I was just wondering whether you could cut a cable that keeps the date / temp on when the head unit is turned on rather then have a blank.

    Thanks in advance

    Mark.

You can cut the blue wire on the loom but this is also an aerial amplifier lead so may get poor radio signal!!

Cut the red/white wire going to pin 8 of the MFD connector.

Cheers I'll give that a go when I've got the dash out.

Does that cable come from the stereo harness or mfd?

Mark it will be a red/white wire but not in Pin 8 on your car, It will be Pin 2

The wire comes direct from the headunit but if you cut it there you will loose the lights on the steering wheel controls

Ah right thanks if I am going to loose the lights on the steering wheel I will leave the wire in place. Is that also the same if I cut the one on the MFD instead of the headunit?

    Cheers

No if you cut it at the top display it will just leave the date on all the time as you want

OK that's great exactly what I want.

So is that still pin 8 coming from the MFD connector?

No Pin 2 as I mentioned above because you don;t have the full MFD
