    Fuel Gauge

    hey,
when i put my key in the ignition and turn it, the fuel gauge goes up, then when i turn the key to start the car the fuel gauge goes back down and comes back up when the car is started. only started to happen recently, ive got a feeling it might lead to something more expensive if its not fixed now, any help would be great guys

let the car warm up so the temp gauge gets up off its rest n try starting it again. if the temp gauge does the same as the petrol guage id start suspecting either a bad earth somewhere or the battery.

The car takes quite a large amperage to start so if ur battery is a little bit knackered or you have a bad earth it could be drawing so much amperage that the fuel gauge does not have the power to keep its current position.
