Turbo has/is going, what to do now...

Since buying the new car a couple of months back I have had persistent smoke coming from the exhaust and a rather large loss of oil as in I was filling the oil to full and within 2 weeks and some times even 1 week it has all gone yet there wasn’t a single drip under the car so it was burning oil quite badly.

After some investigation by a mechy, we found there was oil in all the pipes leading up to the dump valve and quite a lot at that and can only of come from once place the turbo L

So my question is, is it really worth that bit extra for a VXR turbo and if I did get one is it much more hassle to fit and would I need to have the car remapped afterwards or is it just a good thing to do ??

Also would you recommend reconditioned turbos or are they not worth they weight??

And as things stand would the car simply just drink oil and last some time or is it a case of it needs to be replaced asap.

    Cheers for any advice :P

    Hi m8,
Apparently the only available turbo now is the VXR for the ZLET.
Depends on how deep your pockets are as to what you want...
Send your old turbo to TT or TD, etc. for re-seals and 360 deg bearing... or just get a new VXR turbo from Phil (300bhpzafira) like i did.

You can still option to have the new VXR one done up before fitment but that's your choices...

You don't need (as far as i know and been told on here - although it will greatly help) the ECU remapped after VXR fitment but it does give you the graces for more power...

    Not nice is it Trenchy

and DJ Sheridan sorry to sound abit lost hear but who is TT or TD lol :P and I take it having the seals redone and the 360 bearing done would make it practically good as new ???

Why am i slighlty starting to regret getting a turbo coupe now bring back the 1.8 coupe

So VXR one is abit kak, cant buy standard ones, and i take it my last 2 options are basically spend stupid money on a turbo or send it off to get reconditioned?

You can get a brand new vrx turbo for £400, if you fit an oil restrictor and remap sensibly you 'shouldnt' have any problems.

You will also have twice the performance of the 1.8
