itll sound like a broken taxi plus it wont know when to dump being a diesel so your gonna have to rig up some sort of solenoid to your clutch pedal to tell it when to dump

Does a dump valve actually do much except make your motor sneeze when you change gear?

I had one fitted to my 2.0 Dti and it sounded good. Alot better than the one in the youtube video. It can be fitted, all be it a little complicated.

It releases air after the turbo to stop the air flowing backward through it which damages it.
It MAY also reduce turbo lag, not sure though

there are losts of things that DV's 'may do' which stems from lack of knowlage and word of mouth from 20years ago, i prefer waste gate chatter over a DV (but there is no such thing lol)
the only proven reason to have a blow off is to stop compressor stall (which is what most of us know as waste gate chatter or turbo's churping/pigeoning)
when the throttle is completely closed boosted air forces its way back through the turbo as there is suddenly less pressure on the inlet side which causes the turbo to stall and momentarely spin the wrong way
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQlbg...eature=related

the idea behind the DV is to stop this and prolong life of the turbo, but has anyone ever heard of a turbo failing from compressor stall? it will dye from someting else first as turbos are relitively fragile and stall is the least of the problems that should be on an owners mind

and this is the perfect example of surge i have seen online to date, which against popular belief is unrelated to compressor stall
