    x20xev conversion

    hi all

I posted before and got no reply in the wrong section i think, but I have a mate who is scrapping his vectra sri 140 2.0 as the gearbox blew up. he said i can take it off his hands and take what i want from it. I want to take the engine but not sure if my gearbox and what gearbox will fit. also will this engine be a straight fit without any mods as well. ??

    Thanks

    Ricky

crystal ball aint working at the mo so tell us what car u currently have etc

gearboxes are easy to source anyway so id get a F18/F23 to fit the XEV personally

also youll be wanting to upgrade the brakes too depending on what model u have - id have thought u only have a small block 1.4/1.6 hence this thread

in which case youll need the big block shafts for the XEV too

    not sure about looms tho

is it really worth the hassle? instead of sourcing a Mk4 XEV and transferring the lot over?

Your better off having what you can from him for spares but finding a Astra with everything.

I have a 2lt Sri Astra mk4 and im having enough grief finding an exhaust manifold at the moment as they are prone to cracking.

The main troublw you will ahve is your car has a drive by wire throttle, all X20XEV cars have a cable controlledf throttle, so TBH you will have a lit of hassle changign the wiring loom over and chopping it to match the requirements of the X20XEV loom.

Why not change your car for a more powerfull one like a 1.8 then you will not have any of the hassle. The standard o/p of an X20XEV is about 134-6BHP which is not far off the stanfdard figures for a 1.8 16v.

I can see what you would want to but by the sounds of it you are not knowledgable in such changes so would advise against it.

i dont think 150 is but around 140 is possible, change the cams fly wheel, and get a good clutch kit and a decent re-map, tubular manifolds and decent exhaust system, you could break that barrier.... with some of the above i had my old 1.8 up to 153bhp..... from its standard 120bhp.... not much but i hadn't finished before i wrote it off lol

Regal do a turbo kit for the 1.6 which they claim will give 40% more power over standard
not cheap though at about £3865

Jenvey or SB developments might be able to help you with a throttle bodie kit.
SB used to have a kit which took the X16XE from 109BHP to over 200HP
but these are exspensive, I had a basic kit which added around 30BHP and that was £1600. Sounded amazing though and was different from all the turbo conversions. It was also more reliable
