    Supercharged 2.2?

I went to the pub tonight which is always a dagerous thing, epecially with a mechanic. We were talking about my plans for the car and had the tought of using a supercharged 2.2 instead. I know the engines can be found for pennies but the problem area is the charger. GM use the same 2.2 engine on loads of their cars, many of which come supercharged from the factory and I was wondering if anyone had any info on how to go about doing it and where to source the parts (most of which are only available in the US by the looks of things). Thinking about it I would obviouly need the charger, boost pipes, probably some sort of a map and proper belt (but which one? is it drive belt or timing chain driven?) and would the engine be a straight swap into a 1.6 16v?

I am aware that courtenay do the conversion but there is no way I would even consider paying their price for the parts I could sorce for 1/5th of that else where. Anyone suggesting them will get an internet slap
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

GM never did a factory supercharged 2.2 (L61) They destroekd it to 2.0 (LSJ)

You can get a single part no conversion kit for the L61 from dealers in the US, but don't expect it to be an easy fit on European Z22SE engines as therer are many subtle differences .

I believe Saturn (american version of vauxhall/opel) used a supercharger on the Ion Redline once Saturn Ion Red Line, that was the LSJ engine which uses an Eaton M62 Roots-type supercharger

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Ecotec_engine#LSJ

The new Saturn Vue (Antara) uses a 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 which produces 169 bhp and the older version used the 2.2 L Ecotec L61 I4

More on the engines here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_II_engine

broke with timing chains snapped etc 2.2s go for £300 on ebay! never mind a half decent example... and a supercharged idea is costly... plus to go in a 1.6 swap of mounts, front fuel lines, abs, brake servo vacuum etc... be cheaper to go for z20let/c20let... ive just swapped my 2.2 for a z20let as it was cheaper then supercharging what i already had
