Hows does the Zafira B stack up against its competitors

    Hi,

Here is one for your bus owners... My good lady and I have been think about a change of car for her. One of the options that ahs come up has been the Zafira B. There are elements I like of it and there are elements I don't, but how does it stack up against its main rivals i.e.

We are looking at going for a 1.9 CDTi 150 Zafira but wondered which model was best versus the following

    The Focus C-max or S-max

    The Seat Altea XL

ALSO anyone any idea when they are likely to superceed the Zafira B for the Zafira C... 2011?

iam guessing that asking that on an astra owners web site you might get a slightly biassed view, lol, but i would take the zafira all day long.

The S-Max Titanium 2.5 Turbo petrol 220ps out of the box is nice to drive but unfortunatly butt ugly. The 2.0 TDCi is also good to drive with 140ps and a fairly comfortable drive but the s-max's biggest letdown apart from the looks is that the 6th and 7th seat are utterly useless as seats unless you are a pygmy dwarf. It is not a proper 7 seater.

The C-max is only a spacious focus and still only has 5 seats

Can't comment on the Seat as have never driven one.

The Galaxy is nice if your budget will stretch but is a big 7 seater compared to the Zafira. I would get a latest shape Galaxy as the old ones are damn orrible in comparison.

The reason I picked the zafira over a Galaxy/Alhambra is because the Zafira still fairly resembles a car and not a bus but the Galaxy even though it is better to drive is much bigger imo.

I work for Ford btw but still love my Zaf.

I test drove a Altea 2.0 TDi 140, and I hated it, Seat wasted their money putting any suspension in, the effect would have been similar if I had been pulled along with my head bouncing along the floor!!! Also the dials are impossible to read.

While there may be better MPVs (as an MPV) than a Zafira, IMO as nearly new there is nothing to touch them for value. The drive in 150CDTi models is also fantastic as they all have the SRi sports suspension, 17" wheels and ESP regardless of trim level.

We tried one of these, and the Mrs found that she had to sit with her legs in an uncomfortable position as there is a crossmember that cuts across the passenger footwell. Make sure someone but the dealer sits in the front so you can try this before you commit.

Thanks for your input... I have jjst no knowledge of the Zafura's but think that are nice in someway but dated lookig i others. I need a replacement that is goig to look the part in 5-6 years time.

What MPG does the 1.9 150 CDTi give typically and what spec of Zafira would you recommend going for...
