hand brake.......pull up the cover between the gearstick and handbrake lever over the diagnostics plug.... squeeze together the two sides of the plastic that the leather gater is attached too.(handbrake)and pull upward...when away the gater is stapled on... remove old gater and fit new same way as the old... then stick gater to plastic using bostick or a similar glue,, holding in place till set... then replace , you will see how it fits in (easy)

i used double sided tape instead of glue... works just as well and no parent supervision required

gear stick gater.... lifting same cover over diagnostics plug,, you will see two screws , undo them and lift gater plastic surround away,, take off old gater (fitted with staples again and a cable tie),,, and replace new , fitted as old came off,, stick with bostick and let set. replace in reverse..(easy)

my gaitor wasnt fitted with staples for the gearstick, just held in place with a white inner plastic thinngy that clipped into the gaitor surround and a couple of tongues... took ages to get it to fit over it right with my fat fingers

actually SXT your right about the gear gater on the astra you need to use a knife to get it out from betwen the black and white plastic surrounds and use a knife to replace the new gater carefully...,, i was thinking about the zaf one which is stapled on....many thanks SXT
