    adding air con

I was just wondering if anyone on here has upgraded there car to have aircon?

I have a 2lt SRI, now with electric sunroof but wondered how hard it would be to upgrade to AC.

I seam to have all the plugs etc, and the alternator & battery will more than cope as both are upgraded.

I thought the SRI came with air conditioning? If not then it is very difficult to do, A/C is one of the the first things they fit when building a car

to be honest bubba, I thought that too lol
I have recently brought a t reg, thinking it comes compleate, didnt even give it a 2nd thought at the time. as I brought the car knowing it had a headgasket gone and only paid £500 for it. its all running puka now, but it wernt untill I went to drive it for the 1st time that I noticed it wernt there.

And although Ive gone without it for the last couple of years, I kinda hoped to have it again.

I figured all I need to do is find a car with all the bits at a scrappy and take them off and bolt it to mine

it goes through the bulkhead etc... so major work even if it can be done, the plug for the heater panel with aircon is extra/different so its a modify or change of loom (well anything can be done)

not a clue, I was looking at other 2lt SRis and cant belive there where so many differences between them.

I can only assume people added the extras at some stage

gonna need ac condensor + evaporator + compressor + all pipework etc thats if the correct wiring is there for everything else to work like condensor fan etc probably easier to wind your window down or buy another car

I must admit I did consider it lol.
Wiring is there though, I have double checked this against my sxi that does have ac.
plugs are there, just taped up. it stupid really as my sri on a T plate has all the plugs for just about every mod I want to do, like heated seats, cruise control, electric sunroof and more. Yet my mrs SXI on a 01 plate barely has anything extra. I know adding traction control is an easy mod. When I worked for Vauxhall I could never see the sence in having loads of different looms etc. If they just had one loom does all surely it would be more cost effective. still never mind
