    Brakes

hey people! im after some advice on brakes! well i got a 2001 coupe 1.8 and i need new pads all round and front discs so i might aswell just upgrade them all... been looking for dimpled+grooved and some upgraded pads.

This is were im lost! in thinking maybe yellow stuff? or not needed on my 1.8? green stuff?

Are the Discs off ebay ok? or should i stop being so tight and get some better 1? any ideas on brands?

would you advive i replace the brakes hoses for uprated items? ill be changing the fluid also as i havent in the 3 years ive had the coupe? Dot4 or Dot 5.1 as a nice upgrade?

can any please advise me on whats the best pads/discs for the front + rear?

How can i tell the difference from the lucas to the bosch rear calipers?

and one last question is it worth the money for a turbo front brake conversion?

Go for the 308mm turbo brakes! Will be a much bigger improvement, plus will look better behind your wheels Can be done for about £150 or even less, just need some caliper carriers, new discs and pads.

308's will easilty fir behond 17" wheels, as that is what is fitted to Astra Coupe, SRi and GSI turbo's

308's even fit behind most OEM 16" wheels. 308's are a very worthwhile upgrade. Standard plain discs and GM pads are a good.

Your rear standard setup is more than adequate.

Bosch rear calipes have horizontal ribs on the back of the caliper, Lucas caliers are smooth on the back

would it be worth my while getting some 308's on the front with some nice drilled/grooved discs and tidy yellow stuff pads?

now the down side after a quick blast over the mounting last night my pads are shot, had that crazy metal on metal sound so left the car in a garage got some cheapy halfords pads and fitting them this morning!

so i really need to get this sorted sooner rather than later!

o and cheers marc i have bosch calipers!

If you want the BEST, dont even think about still using your 280mm, go for the 308, or even the VXR upgrade if you want, but the 308 with some discs pads and also the cooling ducts help a bit, this will be a very good setup
