    Petrol in diesel car???

Ive heard that putting about 1 litre of petrol into a diesel tank is just as good, if not better as any of the diesel treatments out there. (i.e when tank is nearly empty put in 1litre of petrol and then fill up remainder with diesel). Has anybody tried this. Apparantly it's quite good to clean injectors etc??
No astra at the moment, have a Vw golf 1.9Tdi, but watch this space...

The owner's manual for my 1996 diesel Astra says that you can use up to about 20% petrol mixed with the diesel but I can't see why I would bother as the petrol is more expensive here in NZ. I have heard of people using some proportion of petrol to help decrease diesel viscosity in extremely cold climates. Haven't heard of it added as a way to clean the injectors.

If I felt a need to try to clean the injectors I would just use some standard diesel injector cleaner additive. People who use biodiesel mixtures claim that that cleans the injectors but I've never seen proof of that...

Ive tried it and as paul said its more of a winter thing to help the car along, not sure on the cleaning aspect of it.
