Exclamation Vauxhall Astra Mk3 Loud Vibrating From Engine Bay

    Hi,
Wonder if any of you guys can help. I own a Mk3 1.4 16V GLS and when the car is started and ticking over i am experiencing a loud vibrating sound, from somewhere between the drivers side of the engine and the air filter box. It sounds like metal vibrating and makes a clunking sound. The sound dies out after engine has warmed up a little and only occurs when first starting the engine when cold.

That sounds pretty rare, a 1.4 16V, must be one of the last off the line, as the 16valvers where normaly 1.6 and above.

I know this sounds daft, but is it not the airbox itself causing the vibrating, my diesel does something like this, the airbox and wires in that area vibrate. It could also be the timing belt cover?
Have you checked to see if anything is loose?
Probably the ONLY Astra Mk3 sitting on Corsa D SXI rims!
And Now a Diesel on Discs all round!

I'll check everything you guys have said, family member who is a mechanic reckons could be the Valve Lifters and i should add some 'Wynns Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment' inot the oil for 2 weeks to see if problem still persists.

and about the engine its a X14XE (Ecotec) which i believe is a 16V engine...or so been told.
