    Pride & Joy Written Off

Someone went into the side of me on 31st Oct while i was exiting a round about, Insurance has decided its un-economical to repair, as FG Barnes quoted £2500 to fix. It is the passenger rear door and outter and inner wing that needs repair, i have attatched links to the pics of my car, was just wondering if anyone knows how much this would cost to put right, instead of going to Barnes, or how much anyone would be willing to pay for it as it is (if they want to repair it themselves), I havent had the figure my insurance will pay out for it, and don't know how much they would want me to buy it back for yet. It is a 52 plate with 64000 on the clock.

ouch fella, I feel for u. The reason why the insurance have decided on saying its uneconomical to repair is because the quotes from Barnes is literally on the top whack for the asking price from a private sale.
I wouldn't expect that much of a drop in price though mate from other repair shops.

tbh looks like the price is high because the rear panel has pulled away from the door as such. but tbh its fixable. Id nearly try putting it back into shape a bit, some filler and same in the door or a second hand door, shouldnt cost anywhere near that much.

If you were in northern ireland id give it a go for you

Feel sorry for ya man. By reading this and other posts, the companies in the UK are really charging silly money for repairs. I just cant understand, how on earth could this possibly be a write off!? Here in Belgrade, this would classify as a minor damage and could be fixed, in a way that no one would ever know it was damaged there, for around 200£ max and would be taken care of in 2-3 days tops.

£2500 would probably be about right if you take into account what will be needed to put the damage right, looks like it needs a new door, new rear 1/4, new alloy wheel, plus paint and labour costs and will also need the wheel arch pulling straight where it's been bent out of shape.

Mine got written off for much less damage than that, its hefty. Could probably make a fair bit back with stripping it though.

Thanks for all your help lads, I dont have the space really to strip it down, it's a pain in the arse having to keep it where it is anyway, as i have a courtesy car, just a shame to see it go to waste as it's been really looked after since new, from the previous 2 owners. Should i expect about £2600 for it? I think thats about the going rate at the moment, bearing in mind this is the second time in a year its been hit, the last time i was rear end shunted, luckily it only needed a new bumper, plus its got 2 new Avon low profile tires on the front!
