    New Turbo Dilema

Ok so i have been in for a service today at Thorney, who had a look at my boosting problem. The bloke said one of the boost pipes had come off which he re connected. This helped slightly howver its still not properly boosting until just after 3 thousand RPM, plus ive still not got my popping exhaust back and the turbo is still fluttering like mad every time i come of the throttle.

The bloke recommended changing the diaphram and the boost sensors however couldnt guarentee it would solve the problem and may still end up with a new turbo.

What would be the next best step? The turbo isnt completly shagged so should i just wait unitll it is and then change it?

I managed to hagel them down to a price of £700 fitted for a VXR with 12 months parts and labour warrenty.

Should i just bite the bullet and go for the VXR Turbo, the added bonus being i can go straight to stage 3.

Sounds painful either way but if I was you think I would just bite it and go VXR if you can afford it! Nice upgrade and if it still stutters then at least you know where the problem should lie then!

fit a Forge diverter valve in ur existing turbo - costs about £100 or less via ebay

pair of new BCS are only £20 each on trade club (join AOC as paid member for discount)

personally i advise bypassing the rear BCS - theres details on this on the forum

the Forge diverter valve should stop the turbo chatter

Are u running a dump valve? could be that theres a nasty spacer fitted in the original recirculating valve.

some more details of ur exact setup are required and how long its been acting up etc

Change the o,e dump valve with a forge one or even a new standard one, mine used to leak and when it used to boost up the car felt like it was pulling then stoping then pulling until about 3 thousand revs, Then the o,e valve would then snap shut and the car would go like stink all I did was change the valve and re oil it with some engine oil and its been fine since. You could also here it leak when the car was pulsating.
