1.9 cdti thrown water pump belt

I THINK MY WATER PUMP BELT HAS LET GO! TEMPERATURE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING SO I STOPPPED, LET THE ENGINE COOL THEN TRIED TO START ENGINE AGAIN TO AN ALARMING RATTLING NOISE. I'VE SEEN SOMBODY MENTION FRACTURE FITTED ROCKERS THAT PREVENT THE VAVLES FROM BEING DAMAGED IN THE EVENT OF THE TIMING BELT COMING OFF. ANYONE WITH ANY EXPERIENCE OF THIS? PLEASE HELP

First of all TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF!! The water pump is driven by the cam belt so, if your engine is running so is the water pump. look elsewhere.

All depends what you mean by "AN ALARMING RATTLING NOISE"? If i was you to be on the safe side I would not try to start the engine again until someone has taken a look.
