    MPG returns on modded Z20's?

Could only find the following thread http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...hlight=economy which were all about standards, bar 1 post.

I'm just browsing to see what catches my eye as the Z18XE replacement & i'd like a GSI, but it's whether i could live with the fuel consumption.

I'm not after standard figures as i know they're approx the 30 marker +/- 2-3mpg.

How about when you start modding your GSI & you look to be getting it remapped? I've read about stage 1, 2, 3, 4 & such, but only have a brief gen on what this means.
What's the "expected" mpg returns once you go this route of remapping/modding?

Am currently hitting 36/37 tops in my Z18XE & just looking at a comparison.

I mainly do 50/60mph driving on 6 mile trips (work). I'll drive to town occasionally which will throw in a few 30mph zones. I go the motorway but only rarely. The Z18XE will hit about 39 on a m-way run. Might just edge the 40mpg marker.

Want to find out whether i should put an end to my interest in a GSI now or not lol.

It's not a case of being worried or not though. It's just a simple question that i don't know the answer to so am looking to you guys for an answer. Not being funny or anything. I'm just wanting to know - nothing more or less, just exactly what it says on the tin

Don't know if you'll take that the wrong way or anything, but it isn't meant funny.

But what you got? Standard? If so, then as said above, i already know what standards are 'supposed' to typically get.

as above - is yours standard, or not? Are you hitting the 30mph town zones for most of your drive, or are you on the motorways day in day out?

That makes me sound arsey i guess as it'll seem that way via text, but it's not the case. I'm just after some simple but descriptive enough, info

If you're spot on then that's pretty much what i was looking for. Cheers for the guide. I guess i'd be looking around the mid 20s then ateotd, so might be best to look elsewhere. Will have to see.

Found http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml in my favourites folder. Pretty handy

    I think i roughly do 8k miles a year.

    Z18XE on current prices: £1,131.59
    GSI with a 30 average: £1,320.19
    GSI with a 25 average: £1,584.22

Hmm, going off that, it doesn't seem so bad, but i'd have to shelve plans of a remap & keep it standard. I could do 1.3, but not 1.6 i think. Hmm. Food for thought.
