    Stevens Vaux, Crawley

    Hi Guys and girls,
Has anyone had many dealings with Stevens?
Want to know what they are like. Putting the car in for a diagnostic for my tap tappety tappets to find out whats wrong/ needs doing.
Its already costing £50 quid for that, but I want to know if they are the kind to stitch you up or not? I dont really want to do the tappets myself, but I dobnt want to pay out £400 for someone to do it either!

I have never had cause to deal with them so I can't comment sorry.

I only used to take my astra to a Vxl dealer when I absolutely had to because in my experience most dealers are into daylight robbery and a regular non approved mechanic can often do the job just as well.

Yeah. I think most of them is into a bit of making money, far and few between are the honest ones.

I'm just confused at the fault and I dont knwo whether they will try stitching me. I opened the oil filler cap while the engine was running, and the noise didn't get any louder, almost as if it wasn't coming from the rockers at all! lots of oil slooshing around too.
I just dont want to get ripped off cos I have just had, MOT, full service, new drop links, rear brakes, brake fluid change and 4 new tyres!

    I am poor now

I've not heard great things about Lethal but they did do me a favour when I needed some new tyres fitting. They can't be as bad as Kwik Sh*t.

Intake manifold had some loose corrosion in it making the tapping noise.
£153 to remove the mani and clean it, all new gaskets.

They've always been good to me, they're honest and won't stitch you up, but they still charge dealership prices. Service has always been good when I've gone there.

thats prob nothing. just cold engine. my tapping was hot and cold, got louder and faster with engine speed. it came on very quick: 1 week from having no noise to loud noise.
    It was unnatural
