Same size to my knowledge, but the pipes from the airbox to the TB may be different as the 1.8's (Z18XE anyhow) runs an airflow meter but the Z16XE has an inlet temp sensor instead.

At a guess it'll be the same size/fitment, check the model number on the site against the Z16XE ones etc.

    100% the same

all models of mk4 share the same panel filter/air box except the 2.2 petrol

dont put anything on - thats my advice

if u really insist on putting stuff on then u want a nice thick heavy oil - for instance the stuff used on ITG filters is like thick grease!!

it also killed my AFM within a few weeks (i did have a groupA rally cone tho lol)

seeing as the XEP uses an AFM too id either not use any oil at all - or give it an ever so fine layer of K&N (or similar) oil as per the instructions

right i have thoroughly washed it and currently leaving it to dry (naturally), i thought you had to have a layer of oil on them....?
can i have them in with out? (might sound a stupid question)

Its not reccomended to run them without oil and its the oil thats doing most of the filtering so without it it will let all sorts of crap into your engine, I have ran my k&n for three years now and it has been re oiled once a year and have had no issues.

it depends on how much oil you use. it should be as minimal as possible because the replacement oil is not very thick so particles of it can get through to the afm. i made that mistake with my courtenay filter. id spray it from a distance with the filter on the floor and spraying down towards it. that what iv done and my 2nd afm is fine still
