Before the HID kit you need some new projector head lights (if you don’t all ready have them) then you can fit a HID kit. On the standard headlights for the old Zafira/Astra even with R HID bulbs you get real bad light scatter that will soon get you noticed by the old bill.
Fitting a H7R kit on the newer models though still illegal you do not get such bad scatter because of the much better headlights and umbrellas over the bulb.
Best place for HID kits IMO is http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-con...its-p-271.html

Great service and good lights that work.

    Pretty sure it H7 fitments.

There are are loads of posts about the legality etc but the consensus is yes you should have projector headlights but once adjusted they are fine.

My wife has a set of H7's in her standard Astra lights and they are fine

Basically yes, but I would recommend going for the H7R bulb not the standard H7; the R (R for Reflector lenses), have a blanking strip down each side of the bulb that is supposed to help cut down light scatter.
4300K (Kelvin) is what goes into standard fit HID cars from the manufacturers, this gives the best light output on the road, very white light with the slightest hint of yellow. 6000K is Diamond white with a slight hint of blue (bit like found on Mercs and new Beamers). 8000k are really starting to get too blue and do not put out as much usable light as the other to. (more likely to get pulled over and find MOT problems with these, but a lot of folks still go for them because they have a look opposed to function)

If you can get to the back of the head light ok (unlike on the Astra H/Zafira B, when you have to take off the front bumper and each head light to fit them) then fitting them is just plug and use. Fit the new bulb, make a hole in the rear light cover for the wiring, securely fit the ballast and wire up. Job done.

Astra H/Zafira B requires canbus suitable ballast units, not sure about older models.

You need to mod the bulb holder on the MK4 Astra and early Zafira.

Like said above...............Get some H7R's and stick to 6000k as they are the nicest colour without going blue.
