    Major service prices.

Rang a Vaux garage today and asked for a quote on a major service (it will be the 4th stamp) and cambelt change. As i already have the cambelt and runners i was quoted £130 for the fitting of the belt and £230 for the major service (includes top up of aircon and new brake fluid). Is this a good price asmy dad seems to think so lol. oh and i get a free valet inside and out coz its my first time at the garage

they charged me £200 for a interim (small) service so i think you got a good deal...let us know if they find any faults with the car and how much to fix, they called me up and said i needed new front discs and pads at a cost of £279! even though the garage i bought the car from (car giant) done a 114 point check on the car before i bought it and all was fine, wont be going vauxhall for my future services! had the car 3 weeks before i forked out that cash on it

Servicing prices all depend on the area you are in as the labour rates that are charged are regional. Best way to get an idea if you are paying a fair price is to ring around other dealers in your area and see which comes out the cheapest.

seeing as u already have the cambelt kit - are u really that bothered about a dealer stamp?

have u considered sourcing the complete service kit from Autovaux or even Vxl themselves if u sign up to AOC paid member status and get trade discount then just pay an independent garage for the work - you still get a stamp just not VXL

its certainly the route i would take but im guessin ur not

The reason i'm getting a VX stamp is because the last 3 stamps are from dealers and i may sell it in the next 6-12 months so i may aswell keep the dealer stamp on it. Plus i'm getting 10% off and a free valet which makes it worth it anyway
