    Jump starting

Am i right in saying it goes like this?

Both cars off connect the +'s to both cars first then the -'s followed by starting working car then ****ed car.

Once working and both cars still running take the -'s off first then the +'s?

it doesnt really matter which order you put them on as long as u make sure the clasps never touch each other or the bodywork to make a circuit. and yes it helps to have the doner car running before trying to start the knackered car.

one thing you do have to watch jump starting some cars

it can damage some ecu's like the citroen xm if you jump started it you blew the ecu

wont happen on vauxhall cars but just a warning for other cars

The way I've been told is that you connect the positives but then the negative from the donor car goes to an earth point on the knackerred vehicle rather than the negative on the batter. I think that's how it said in my haynes manual but I might be wrong...

I remember reading something like this in my haynes manual as well, can not remember the specifics.
