Thumbs Up Astra ready for the winter - serviced and detailed!

Well, the Astra is now ready for the Winter.

Yesterday went into local garage for a service, overall costing just over £200. Nothing major wrong at all, only extra on top of service were new front wipers, £30! Amazing how much smoother it is to drive. Noticed that it doesn't now appear to be revving as high when cruising at 70 on the motorway. Used to be around 4000rpm, now cruising at about 3500.

Today, got day off work, so decided that whilst the weather was cool and it was grey and overcast it was time for its final detail before the winter sets in properly.

    Used following procedure/products:

Rinsed then washed with NXT and mitt
    Clayed
Rinsed and washed again with NXT
    Polished with AG SRP
    Glazed with PB Blackhole
    Waxed with Sonax VXR Wax

And the results (sorry for lack of quality, only had phone to hand!)

Looking good Mark, except for the scuff on the front bumper .

One thing on the 'VXR' wax is it's not very durable. They used it on my car when I collected it and 2 weeks later it was no longer beading properly.

    No longer owns an Astra

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring

Hmmm, yeah, front bumper has seen better days. Passenger side was scuffed by previous owner, and the drivers side, I admit, I caught in the summer when in a hurry to get into G.F's drive with Chinese! Will sort it eventually!

I know the wax is not very hard wearing, but for £5 a tin, thought it was a cheap buy so I could get to grips with it before I splashed out on some Pete's 53. Car hadn't been waxed in about 3-4 weeks, and the beading was almost non exsistent.

Anyway, have put Pete's 53 on xmas list, so VXR wax will do for now!

As long as you didn't spill the Chinese mate, that'd be unlawful lol.

Well why would a simple service knock 500 rpm off a 70mph cruise? It's a mechanical impossibility!!!
